The Group's business envisages a production mix including the main renewable sources: wind, solar, hydroelectric and geothermal.

Need
The project, which involved two working groups, Business Development and Engineering & Construction, aimed to provide a professional dashboard, through which to access information relating to the plants in the Business Development phase and the plants in the Construction phase.

In addition to this activity, in terms of geographical location and megawatts, the need to analyze and manage the workload of the Project Teams emerged, in order to obtain a clear overview during all phases of the project
Solution
Tools: Microsoft Project Online, Azure and Power BI.

Two PWA environments were created during the project. 

All the data stored in the two environments have been replicated at the Azure DB level, in order to obtain a single Data Base to be accessed through the Power BI reporting.

For the Engineering & Construction department, Microsoft Project Online. This decision involved training and coaching activities aimed at the various Planners in charge of planning and controlling the projects themselves.

Subsequently, the tool was customized in order to facilitate the implementation of updates and changes to the project sheet.

The most important customization involved the development of an add-on in Excel that allows you to massively modify the custom fields of the projects, so that the user can use Excel, which, when properly connected to Project Online, allows the multiple synchronization of projects
Achieved Results
During this first phase of the project, the customer achieved important results in the following areas:
  • skills mapping;
  • replacement of skills with the real names of the resources involved in the activities;
  • assessment of the overall workload;
  • mapping of projects in different geographical areas;
  • ability of predictive analysis on construction estimates;
  • ability to analyze performance in relation to external suppliers and third-party companies
The project is continuing with the integration of Artificial Intelligence and Voice Recognition algorithms, for the collection of information directly from the construction site
